One of the most anticipated upcoming titles for the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) right now must be Hitman GO, a port of Square Enix Montreal’s hugely popular mobile puzzler that’s based on the hit assassination simulation series. It’s not yet clear when the title will be launching on the platform but, last year, it was also confirmed that the title would be arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC as Hitman GO Definitive Edition. This new version will be arriving next week.

Square Enix has confirmed that the title will be showing up on all three platforms on 23rd February 2016. It’s important to note, however, that it hasn’t yet been confirmed if these versions could support VR HMDs. The PC version, for example, could possibly be a candidate for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support given that the title is coming to Gear VR, while the PlayStation 4 edition could perhaps support the upcoming PlayStation VR in the future. None of these HMDs will actually be available when Hitman GO launches on their platforms, though, so an announcement may be waiting in the wings.

Hitman GO turns the series’ celebrated sandbox gameplay into a sort of board game in which players will move a figure of protagonist Agent 47 around a scene, one step at a time. The objective of each stage varies from reaching goals to taking out targets, with the player being careful to avoid detection from the enemy or face them head-on, in which case they’ll quickly meet their end. VRFocus sampled the Gear VR version of the experience last year and came away impressed with how it had been adapted to fit the technology.
