While there’s been lots of news from the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 this week, developers are setting their sights on other events later on this year. Harmonix’s rhythm action videogame Rock Band VR which was announced at The Game Awards in December for Oculus Rift, is at GDC but a new build has been revealed to be coming the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.

Details on the new features are a little sparse but what is known, is the new build will allow players to take their eyes of the track and be involved in the stage more. The GDC 2016 preview build is just the existing gameplay adapted for virtual reality (VR).

The videogame will be an exclusive for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), and looks to feature support for the headsets motion-tracked controllers Oculus Touch.

Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey is excited about the title having previously said: “I have never been more than a casual plastic instrument player, but this is one of my favourite games in development for a reason”

Last years announcement featured Luckey with members of Harmonix teaming up with power metal band Dragon Force, who’s titles including Through the Fire and Flames, a popular track that first appeared on rival videogame Guitar Hero.

There’s been no news on a release date yet, but VRFocus will continue its coverage of Rock Band VR, reporting back any further updates.
