Hammerhead VR has revealed a new cinematic virtual reality (VR) experienced based on the short film written and directed by Rob McLellan, ABE VR. Set for release on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, ABE VR tells the story of a misguided robot seeking the unconditional love of humans.

Created in Unreal Engine 4, ABE VR is a virtual recreation of the original story.

The film aims to explore the emotional connection and heightened sense of empathy that VR delivers as a storytelling medium while introducing new techniques to enhance the feeling of presence, such as the head-look tracking between ABE and the viewer as a character.

A trailer for ABE VR follows below. No details on the official release date for either the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive editions of the VR experience are currently available, but VRFocus will bring you more details very soon.
