Virtual reality (VR) technology continues to draw in new developers eager to work with new experiences. Joining the ever growing list of studios this week is Vanguard Games, which is known for its work on two spin-offs of the Halo franchise in Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike. The company has merged with Force Field, a VR and augmented reality (AR) specialist to work exclusively on these technologies from now on.
Games Industry reports that the pair is now working on a title for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), though it’s not clear when fans will get to see it. The team is also teasing that it’s partnered with ‘leading companies’ to make new experiences.
“We kicked off in this new direction nearly a year ago through our partnership with Oculus and absolutely fell in love with the possibilities of this new platform,” CEO Arthur Houtman said in a statement. “We believe in the incredibly potent future of VR and AR and have made the bold decision to re-focus our entire company. Based on our legacy, awesome talent, studio size and deep relationships with the platforms, we feel confident that Force Field is in a unique position to create high quality games, interactive entertainment and experiences in virtual reality.”
