With the festive holiday season almost here Google brings some light heartedness to the proceedings with Santa Tracker, a website that allows children to go online and track Santa. This year the tech giant adds a virtual reality (VR) twist to the Santa Tracker app on Android, with support for its Google Cardboard head-mounted display (HMD).

Both the app and the website feature lots of kid friendly activities. There’re fun games and learning experiences to play, with a new one unlocked every day in an advent calendar theme until 24th December, when tracking Santa on Google Maps commences.

Through the smartphone app the Goggle Cardboard headset can be used to playone game at the moment, which is Snow Down a snowball throwing contest. While none of the other activities seem to support the VR HMD, as more will be available as the month rolls on Google will probably add further VR supporting games due to the popularity of its cheap and cheerful device.

The app this year also features new watch faces for Android Wear users and Android TV also has a Santa Tracker app. All the apps are free to download from Google Play.

VRFocus will continue to bring you the latest Google Cardboard news as more announcements are made.
