At the Tokyo Games Show (TGS) in September last year, animation studio Production I.G teased a trailer for a virtual reality (VR) version of cult anime title Ghost in the Shell called Ghost in the Shell The Movie: Virtual Reality Diver. Little has revealed since the show, but now its been revealed that the experience will be coming to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) head-mounted display (HMD), PlayStation VR.

Detailed on the official site, Ghost in the Shell The Movie: Virtual Reality Diver was originally due to be released as a VR app for smartphones but as the project has now grown size to a 15 minute film availability on mobile platforms has now been delayed as the team work to reduce the size of the app.

So it’ll now feature on the PlayStation VR HMD although it’s currently unclear if the experience will only be available in Japan, or if it’ll see a wider release.

And next month Ghost in the Shell The Movie: Virtual Reality Diver will be available in the Kanto region of Japan through the VR Theater service in 31 internet cafes.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Ghost in the Shell The Movie: Virtual Reality Diver, reporting back any further updates.
