It’s a big day for Samsung and Oculus VR’s mobile-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), Gear VR. The consumer version of the kit has finally launched over in the US for $99 USD and is arriving at the doors of those that pre-ordered the device throughout the day. In terms of other territories, the device has already been listed in both Germany and the Netherlands, but has today appeared on a handful of other Samsung sites for other countries.

For Europe, Samsung Belgium, Poland and Austria all now list the kit. Polish and Austrian prices haven’t been confirmed but it is listed for €99.99 EUR on the Belgium site, which fits in line with other EU territories. The device is also up over on Samsung Canada, though only holds the message ‘Coming Soon’ for now. None of these sites appear to reveal when the device will actually be arriving in their respective countries.

The Gear VR unit itself consists of a pair of lenses that users will slot one of Samsung’s 2015 smartphones in front of. Said phone then acts as both a display and a processor for these VR experiences.

VRFocus will continue to follow Gear VR closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
