Back at the 2015 Oculus Connect 2 developer conference, Oculus VR confirmed that Boneloaf’s ever-popular multiplayer brawler, Gang Beasts, would be coming to the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). It was a surprising announcement for the title, which is traditionally played from a third-person perspective from which friends proceed to beat each other up in a variety of locales. What wasn’t confirmed was if that VR support could come to other HMDs. Today, however, Boneloaf has announced support for one other device.

The upcoming PlayStation 4 version of the title will be supporting the PlayStation VR HMD. Boneloaf confirmed as much over on the PlayStation Blog today. As with the Oculus Rift version, it appears that Esper developer Coatsink is helping the team with its VR support, though it’s still not clear exactly how it will be integrated. However, the blog post does mention that the title will feature ‘PlayStation VR game modes’, suggesting that it will be specific content within the product that’s VR compatible.

A release date for Gang Beasts on PlayStation 4 is yet to be confirmed, though the VR support will be arriving later down the as a free update. Oculus Rift support is also yet to be dated. However, it remains to be seen if the title could also come to the other major PC-based HMD, the HTC Vive, in the near future. Expect to see the public debut of gameplay at Rezzed 2016. PlayStation VR itself was recently confirmed to be launching in October 2016 for $399 USD/£349 GBP, with pre-orders now available.
