Microsoft’s mixed reality (MR) head-mounted display (HMD) HoloLens has now been available for developers to purchase since 30th March. The device isn’t cheap – $3000 USD – but then it isn’t aimed at the consumer market currently. The device is only available in the US and Canada currently, with Microsoft still staying quiet on an international release. It also hasn’t been very forthcoming with the full specification list, but those details have now surfaced online.
Technology blog Windows Central got its hands on a HoloLens and with some digging found out what makes the device run. Using AIDA64 Mobile the site found these details:

- CPU – Intel Atom x5-Z8100, 1.04 GHz, Intel Airmont (14nm),4 Logical Processors
64-bit capable - GPU/HPU – HoloLens Graphics

- RAM – 2GB
- Storage – 64GB (54.09 GB available)

- Battery – 16,500 mWh
- Camera Photos – 2.4 MP (2048×1152)
- Camera Video – 1.1 MP (1408×792)
- Video Speed – 30 FPS
Most of the specs aren’t that special, with the HoloLens Graphics GPU likely hiding a few more secrets. The processor isn’t overly fast and there’s only 2GB for RAM built in. The 16,500 mWh battery is small giving around 2 hours of use, but the headset isn’t overly big for everything that’s crammed inside to ensure the device stays untethered.
