Currently in development for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) is a strategy videogame called PlanetFate. Today a Steam Greenlight campaign has been launched to garner support and an initial trailer has also arrived.

Built specifically for virtual reality (VR) PlanetFate is a modern take on the classic Asteroids arcade videogame. In it players need to protect their planet from incoming asteroids by building defence units in strategic positions to ward off the incoming threat.

As the trailer showcases, asteroids can come in from any angle meaning you’ll have to keep repositioning your defences as your planet gets bombarded with various sized asteroids.

The experience has been designed to make full use of the HTC Vive’s Room Scale positional-tracking system to help you quickly manoeuvre around the planet, but it can also be played just in a standing position should space at a premium.

There’s few other details currently available on PlanetFate but VRFocus will bring you further updates as we get them.
