Last week VRFocus reported on the reveal of brand new details for Golem, the upcoming virtual reality (VR) videogame that’s on its way to the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4 exclusively. Recent coverage of the title, developed by new studio Highwire Games, detailed a number of new features such as the combat system and some of the areas in the title that players will be able to explore. Since then, some of the first gameplay footage for Golem has also been revealed, and can now be seen below.

Once again, the footage comes from IGN as part of its First coverage this month. It showcases the first section mentioned in the site’s preview. Here players control a small doll found in the room of the bedridden young girl that they are cast as. After a few moments of exploring the room itself, the player makes their way under the floorboards and outside, through tunnel that appear as caves due to their size. Bugs litter the area and players will occasionally step out into a sandy desert environment.

As the name suggests, Golem will also allow players to control much larger stone golems. The title appears to use a single PlayStation Move motion controller, which in this case will help them wield a sword. In combat, players must first block a series of attacks from the enemy before opening up the opportunity to strike for themselves. The title won’t be a launch videogame for PlayStation VR but, then again, creator Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) is yet to detail when the title will actually launch.

Stay tuned to VRFocus for the latest on Golem.
