VRFocus reported last week on the formation of a new meetup group based in London, UK, focused on Epic Games’ middleware Unreal Engine 4. The organiser for the group, Jeremy Anderson has now announced the initial details for the meetups first event to take place in March.

The London Unreal Engine Meetup will be holding an evening of talks, presentations and networking opportunities on Thursday, 3rd March , 2016 between 6:30pm -9:00pm. Currently confirmed is Ryan Shah, Lead Developer at Kitatus Studios who’ll be giving the keynote speech. Alongside videogame development, the studio also produces Unreal Engine 4 books and tutorials for users.

For those wishing to attend the official description states: “If you have anything you want to show off, be it a gameplay prototype, concept art, audio, animation or 3D model, feel free to present it. Just bring a laptop. (Or a USB drive, if you are struggling. We’ll sort you out). There will be swag for those stepping up.”

Even though no virtual reality (VR) has been announced, Unreal Engine 4 is one of the most popular videogame engines on the market, being used by a large number of VR developers. With VR being a hot topic currently in the industry the subject is likely to pop up at some point.

Being held at Mozilla, Floor 3, 101 St Martin’s Lane, London, UK, WC2N 4AZ, there are still 2 spots available (at the time of writing). To join and RSVP go to the London Unreal Engine Meetup page.

VRFocus will continue to follow the London Unreal Engine Meetup group, reporting back with any further announcements.
