Montreal-based creator and producer of cinematic live-action virtual reality (VR) experiences Felix & Paul Studios have a sizeable catalogue of immersive experiences. These include Jurassic World: Apatosaurus, Nomads: Sea Gypsies and Wild: The Experience. Now the studio has received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Outstanding Interactive Media – Original Daytime Program or Series category for two of its films.
The two experiences nominated are Inside Impact: East Africa and Inside the Box of Kurios. Created in association with m ss ng p eces, Inside Impact: East Africa is an eight-minute film allowing viewers to join President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton on their trip to East Africa. Filmed in spring 2015, the VR experience lets viewers see communities otherwise inaccessible to most – from modern downtown Nairobi to Kibera, the largest slum in Africa.
While Inside the Box of Kurios is inspired by Cirque du Soleil’s recent tour KURIOS Cabinet of Curiosities. The experience is a co-production and a co-creation of Felix & Paul Studios and Cirque du Soleil Media. It was the winner of the 2015 Proto Award for Best Live Action VR Experience.

Both experiences can be found on the Oculus Store if you’ve got a Samsung Gear VR or an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Inside Impact: East Africa can also be viewed on Facebook 360 if you don’t have a headset.
