Just over a week ago Frima Studios launched its virtual reality (VR) adventure title Fated: The Silent Oath on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs). Prior to release the developer headed to PAX East 2016, in Boston, Massachusetts, on 22nd – 24th April to showcase the videogame. Now the studio has unveiled a behind the scenes video from the event.

Introduced by Vincent Martel, Frima Studios’ executive producer, he gives a brief background description of Fated: The Silent Oath before talking about the elaborate setup visitors got to use. Martel explains: “We have built an experience where the player can drive horse driven carriage.”

The setup included two fans to produce wind from the left and right hand sides; water mist, so that when players went through a water fall it feels even more immersive. Vibration units were added to the underside of the seat to give the impression of riding along the dirt road or on across the bridge. And finally for added authenticity leather reins were attached to an Xbox One controller to control the horse.

Fated: The Silent Oath is a first-person adventure set in the mythical age of Vikings. The story revolves around a father and husband who must go on a quest to test his courage, and what he’s willing to sacrifice to save his family, and the world from the giants of legend that are returning.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Frima Studios, reporting back any new announcements.
