E3 has always been an event to reveals some of the less expected announcements in the videogaming industry, and tonight Bethesda, developers of many AAA-title videogames such as Fallout 4, took to the stage during the first day of this year’s E3 to reveal news that lives up to the conference’s reputation. It has been announced that the exact title will be coming to virtual reality (VR) on the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD).
Pete Hines, Global Vice President of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, sprung the news of the latest VR adaptation to the audience’s surprise. Hines followed up his relatively brief announcement of DOOM coming to VR closely with more information on the experience: “We think the greatest promise of VR is is its ability to immerse people completely into virtual worlds and we think the best games for that experience will be first person, open world RPGs, so we have Fallout 4 for you to play as well.”
As the crowd cheered at this news as Hines carried on to add: “Wander the wasteland, check out the iconic red rocket, try combat, I’m telling you. With a pip boy on your arm, dog by your side, gun in your hand, it’s pretty incredible.”
Although there wasn’t much information to be had during this conference, it has been confirmed that the title will be coming to the HTC Vive in 2017.
