Virtual reality (VR) can be used for much more than videogames, as developers explore the immersive possibilities of the technology. Yulio Technologies Inc., has developed an app for the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) which allows users to delve into the world of interior design and realistic architecture.

Available to download now for free from the Oculus Store, Yulio Viewer is linked to the Yulio.com Gallery so that viewers can see work created by designers. Professionals use computer aided design (CAD) tools like 3DS Max, Revit or SketchUp to build 3D content, then Yulio turns those designs into an immersive VR experience.

Go to the Yulio site, select a VR model and then follow the instructions to link that experience to your headset via an email address. There’re nine designs on the website to explore in VR. The service is especially catered for those that have hired a designer, an want to view the designs first in an immersive setting.

VRFocus will continue to report on the latest content for Gear VR, as it lands.
