This week saw UK-based indie developer Coatsink Software launch its second ever virtual reality (VR) videogame. That videogame is Esper 2, the sequel to the first-person puzzle experience that debuted on Oculus VR and Samsung’s Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) earlier in the year. Esper 2 is also on Gear VR, but the original title is now on its way to the Oculus Rift on PC. Could it be that the sequel transitions to the upcoming HMD too? According to the developer, that’s exactly the plan right now.

Coatsink Software Lead Designer Paul Crabb confirmed as much in an interview with VRFocus that will be published in full early next week. When asked if Esper 2 could come to the Oculus Rift, the developer simply replied “Yes, that’s the plan.”

But what about other VR projects? Coatsink Software is currently working with its friends at Boneloaf to bring manic multiplayer brawler, Gang Beasts, to the Oculus Rift, but does it have any more original projects planned for the tech? Could there perhaps be an Esper 3? “Another very good question!” Crabb teased. “Sorry. We’ve nothing to announce at the moment, but I can say that we’re far from done with VR.”

Esper 2 casts players as an agent of the ESPR programme and empowers them with telekinetic abilities. Using these powers to solve a wide range of puzzles, players will travel the globe in search of a villain seeking to obtain an ancient artefact. The sequel brings on board top voice talent such as Nick Frost, Lara Pulver and Sean Pertwee and is priced at $9.99 USD/£6.65 GBP.
