This is a video with information about hiking Ellingwood Point Colorado 14er. This was recorded last week of May but there was record snowfall this year. We were able to drive up to 2 miles from Lake Como thanks to my buddys rigged Jeep. We parked by 10pm and started 2+ mile hike with all our camping gear. We got to Lake Como by midnight and started set up camp by midnight we were finally able to lay down. It was really cold temps went down to the low 20s, I had to use my gloves on my feet with hot pockets in them because I felt they were going to freeze. At 4:30 am we woke up made a quick breakfast and ready to roll by 5:30 am. The trail had foot prints only until a little pass the Lake but from then on we were breaking trail which for the most part was solid, except a few spots were we went a little past knee deep. Carried snowshoes in my hands pretty much the whole way, it was too steep and icy to get any traction. Microspikes worked just fine for the climb and breaking a boot line for my buddy and other guy we found on the hike. We summitted 9:45 am it was really windy at the top, we took a little break enjoyed the views and climbed right down, we had originally planned to Blanca Peak as well but we were spent and weather was starting to turn. Got back down to the car after picking up the campground around 1pm. Great adventure this is the first 14er that I ever had to camp out the night before and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. Hope you guys like my video and subscribe to my page.
