Back in March VRFocus reported on Colopl NI the American arm of Japanese mobile videogame company Colopl moving into virtual reality (VR). And today sees the first videogame release in the form of multiplayer paddle ball game Cyberpong VR on Steam.
Set in a futuristic neon drenched setting Cyberpong VR puts players head-to-head in a title that integrates elements of racquetball, pinball and football. Using a pair of paddles players must fling a ball into the opponents goal.
There’s a single player mode you have to destroy a series of blocks while protecting your own goal and collecting power ups along the way. In multiplayer there’s no blocks, it’s just you against your opponent.
“Cyberpong VR takes the core experience of classic paddle ball games and brings it to life in an immersive and futuristic game world fully controlled by the player,” said Jikhan Jung, CEO of Colopl NI. “Our goal is to create engaging social VR experiences such as what Cyberpong VR provides through its intuitive head-to-head action and easily relatable game style.”
Supporting the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) Cyberpong VR is currently available at a discounted rate until 5th May 2016. Gamers can get a copy for £9.89 GBP rather than the regular price of £10.99, giving a 10 percent saving.
