Of the many videogames available for the Oculus Rift launch yesterday, Esper 2 was one of a select few – Dreadhalls, Gunjack, Vektron Revenge included – that was posted over from the Samsung Gear VR mobile head-mounted display (HMD). It’s a popular title on the mobile version likely to follow suit on the Oculus Rift, and developer Coatsink Software has released a special launch trailer to showcase it.

Esper 2 casts players as an agent of ESPR, an organisation set up to deal with the recent outbreak of telekinetic powers among citizens. The videogame features a variety of locations, mind-bending puzzles, secrets and more as the story unfolds.

Coatsink Software got a stellar line-up of actors to voice the characters in the title, with Nick Frost, Lara Pulver and Sean Pertwee, joining Eric Meyers from the original videogame.

“We have been working with VR since the DK1, and Esper 2 is the culmination of everything we have learned since then,” says Tom Beardsmore, CEO at Coatsink. “On top of that, we had the opportunity to work with some very impressive voice talent, which really takes the game to the next level, and we hope that the people lucky enough to get the Oculus in the first round of pre-orders will feel the same.”

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Coaksink Software, reporting on any further VR project developments.
