One of the biggest and well known videogames for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) is CCP Games’ EVE: Valkyrie. The title has been a poster child for the device since its reveal, appearing at numerous events to showcase virtual reality (VR) technology in the run-up to the HMDs launch today. Now the studio has released a special launch trailer to mark the event.

EVE: Valkyrie is one of the bundled videogames for those gamers who have pre-ordered the Oculus Rift. The trailer is narrated by Katee Sackhoff, who is best known for playing Lieutenant Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Battlestar Galactica.

The title is all about immersive space combat, having various craft to choose from to perform specific roles within its team focused gameplay. Guns are mounted on a fixed reticule while missiles appear on a separate head-mounted reticule, thus enabling players to lock and destroy enemy spacecraft within their cockpit view.

With all the hype around EVE: Valkyrie there’s a great deal of pressure on the title to deliver the VR gameplay experience many hope it can. CCP Games also revealed a new dedicated website to the videogame featuring details on the available ships, a store and forums.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of EVE: Valkyrie, reporting back on any new updates.
