You may have seen VRFocus cover an unusual virtual reality (VR) videogame by the name of Caretaker in the past. The title passed a Steam Greenlight campaign last year, but hasn’t been seen since. To that end, developer Xiotex Studio has now revealed its sci-fi first-person shooter (FPS) Caretaker Sacrifice will be arriving this April.

Caretaker Sacrifice is the first instalment of the Caretaker chronicles, a series of games about the end of the universe. Players take on the role of Commander Andy Carolan, who alongside his co-pilot, Alan Purdy, are sent on a mission to discover what’s causing the stars to disappear. Managing to infiltrate one of the mysterious and deadly Star Killers steadily extinguishing the universe’s stars, Purdy is killed in the process. It now up to Carolan as the lone survivor to avenge his colleague, and head further inside to destroy this W.S.D (Weapon of Stellar Destruction).

The game stars David Hewlett from sci-fi series Stargate and voice over artist Ed Mace. As well as Oculus Rift support Caretaker Sacrifice will also be available for PC, Mac and Linux, priced at £6.99 GBP/$9.99 USD, and is the prequel to Caretaker Retribution which is scheduled to release later this year.

A trailer for Caretaker Sacrifice can be seen below and VRFocus will continue it coverage of the title as the series expands.
