There’s been so many virtual reality (VR) games revealed or updated at the San Francisco-based Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 it can be difficult to keep up. A new title that has surfaced is Black Shield from Shanghai, China-based developer V-Sensory, it appeared on a show reel for Epic Games’ middleware Unreal Engine.

Created by a team of 20 over the course of a couple of months, Black Shield is an eight episode first-person shooter for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD). The title is set on a spaceship being attacked by monstrous creatures, and using the headsets Lighthouse Room Scale positional tracking system, players navigate around the ship. Black Shield features both melee and ranged weaponry including daggers, flame-throwers, and laser guns.

The episodes will be released monthly although it isn’t clear when the first one will launch. VRFocus will follow the progress of Black Shield, reporting back any further announcements.
