Over the course of this week, through Black Friday and onto Cyber Monday, Westfield shopping centres in the US will be hosting a range of campaigns and activities for the busy shopping season. Prior to the weekend Westfield will be running a special campaign titled ‘Unwrap Westfield’, full of special events, giveaways, philanthropy, and more. But on Cyber Monday, Westfield is hoping to attract shoppers away from the internet with a virtual reality (VR) experience.

On Cyber Monday, 30th November 30, various Westfield centres together with Sony Music, Samsung Milk VR and Samsung’s Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD), will get the opportunity to experience a special 360 degree VR performance by platinum selling and Grammy award winning group Pentatonix.

Shoppers at UTC, Topanga, San Francisco Centre, Valley Fair, Montgomery, and Garden State Plaza will experience the bands performance of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”  The performance will be available exclusively on Samsung’s Milk VR content platform.

Using the Gear VR HMD in the centres shoppers will be placed on a private balcony as band members emerge from the Christmas-themed set singing directly to the viewer.

And for those unable to experience the VR performance, the first 50 families to visit Santa at others Westfield centres on November 30th will receive a copy of Pentatonix’s holiday CD, “That’s Christmas to Me.”

VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest VR news closely, reporting back with the latest announcements.
