Benchmarking is an important process which helps standardise the PC industry through performance and powerful consumption analysis. Basemark’s tools have become industry-standard and now the company has today launched Basemark Web 3.0 browser benchmarking tool.
This new version extends support from mobile and virtual reality (VR) devices to laptops and PC’s, basically any device that runs a modern web browser. The tool will allow both consumers and professional developers to measure the performance of their devices just through the browser, the results then saved to Basemark Powerboard for performance comparisons.
Basemark’s founder Tero Sarkkinen added: “”Basemark Web 3.0 is an entriely new browser benchmark, replacing the previous BrowserMark which was starting the approach the end of its lifecycle. Basemark Web 3.0 was created in cooperation companies involved with the Benchmark Development Program, as well as Khronos Group, the consortium behind the WebGL API.

It was last August 2015 when Basemark began looking at VR benchmarking with CryEngine developer Crytek. The industry didn’t have any standard solutions at the time, and with VR’s growing popularity one was needed so VRscore was developed.
