The fashion and retail sectors are beginning to utilise virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) more and more as the technology progresses. Tommy Hilfiger has started putting VR experiences of its 2015 runway shows in its stores and John Lewis has been trialling AR in its flagship store. And so Augmenting Reality Meetup, a group based in London, UK is organising an event aimed at AR in fashion and retail.

The meetup will be taking place next Wednesday, 28th October 2015, at St Luke’s Community Centre. The evening event starts at 6:30pm GMT, and features a number of speakers. Announced so far will be Steve Dann from Amplified Robot, who will be talking about ‘How will AR & VR affect Fashion and Retail’. Also talking at the event will be Johannes Schickling from Optonaut  about taking VR pictures using your phone and share them with your friends.

After the presentations attendees will have the chance to tryout the latest AR and VR tech, alongside further announcements, networking opportunities and Q&A’s.

The event is free to attend but those interested will need to signup and RSVP at the Augmenting Reality Meetup page. Spaces are limited and at the time of writing there are 15 spots still left available.

VRFocus will continue to report on the latest meetups taking place, that involve AR or VR themes.
