Studio Wildcard is continuing to deliver plentiful updates for the pre-release version of its virtual reality (VR) compatible survival title, ARK: Survival Evolved, this week. The title’s latest additions include two brand new dinosaurs in the form of the penguin-like Kairuku Waitaki and the Anglerfish, the Melanocetus. A new video that showcases both creatures can now be seen below.

The Melanocetus uses a bioluminescent light pod to attract its prey. Taming the beast allows players to use the natural light at the end of its stalks to illuminate the ocean depths for safe exploration among other features. The Kairuku Waitaki, meanwhile, is said to be useless in a fight, but can be kept as pet-like creatures that can even keep players warm and act as a light form of armour.

ARK: Survival Evolved currently features full support for the second development kit (DK2) of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) and will support the full consumer version later down the line. A PlayStation 4 version of the title is also coming and will support the PlayStation VR HMD, while support for the HTC Vive is also expected to reach the PC edition.

VRFocus will continue to follow ARK: Survival Evolved closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
