Back in September 2015 indie developer Ape Law launched the first episode in its surreal horror series, Albino Lullaby, on Steam with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display’s (HMD’s) second development kit (DK2). Of course, the Oculus Rift’s consumer version (CV1) is just a few weeks away from launch, with shipping starting on 28th March 2016. Those wondering if the title would be ready to support the new version of the device are in luck; Ape Law has just confirmed that the first episode will be on the Oculus Home store on launch day.

Albino Lullaby is a first-person horror experience that strays away from the usual tropes such as jump scares, which is something Oculus VR itself is advising studios not to use. The title tasks players with escaping a dark Victorian town, but instils a sense of uncertainty in the user’s actions by giving them dramatic, unpredictable effects. The second episode of the experience had been scheduled to arrive on 15th March 2016, though it’s not clear if this is still the case and, if so, when it will appear on the Oculus Home store. Three episodes are planned in total.

“To be completely surrounded by a game world like Albino Lullaby is a totally unparalleled experience right now; we are thrilled our design philosophy works so well with the Rift and honored that Oculus Store chose to include us on launch day,” said Justin Pappas, creative director of Albino Lullaby and Founder of Ape Law.

Those that have already bought Albino Lullaby on Steam will receive a code to download the Oculus Rift compatible version. The title is also set to support the HTC Vive HMD and come to PlayStation 4 with support for the PlayStation VR HMD.
