José Maria Mellado, Spanish professional photographer, has just published a book named “Fotografia panoramica de alta calidad“. The book written in Spanish, covers the following topics:

  • All generalities about panoramic photography
  • How to shoot images
  • How to stitch images
  • Advanced photography techniques
  • Various case studies

Fotografo Digital, led an interview with José Maria Mellado regarding the release of the book, here are some extracts:

FD: After two successful books on high quality image processing, why did you write a book focused on the panoramic field?

JMM: I have used panoramic photography for many years and this technique is a cornerstone in the development of my work.

FD: In your previous books you were using Photoshop or Lightroom. However, in the book “Fotografia panoramica de alta calidad“, you make a reference to Autopano and PTGui. Why did you use different software solutions?

JMM: Adobe Photoshop is undoubtedly a very good tool for photographers. I explain in my book that Photomerge would be enough for someone who stitch and create panoramas sporadically. For instance, Photomerge does not allow you to change the perspective or choose a different projection to render your panorama. Autopano and PTGui have all functionalities that a professional photographer may need.
