When the selfie-stick craze began happening a couple of years ago, photographer and educator Russell Squires decided that he wanted to go beyond using “a lightweight flimsy stick” and a smartphone, so he decided to try shooting selfies with his 4×5″ large format camera.

Squires took a Manfrotto monopod and mounted his Chamonix 4×5-inch field camera. To trigger the shutter, he attached a long cable release and placed it in his pocket.

Here’s one resulting selfie Squires made using his giant selfie setup (you can see his dad in the background shooting behind-the-scenes views):

We previously shared a different large format selfie stick back in October 2015, but that one was literally a giant stick.
