Underwater filmmakers capture a world that is rarely seen, with the advent of 360-degree camera systems and virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) you can explore and fully experience life beneath the waves. Companies like 360Heros are looking to capitalise on this growing segment of the market with its 360Abyss underwater housing system for GoPro cameras. Now the technology firm has announced the latest update to the rig, with the 360Abyss v4.
The 360Abyss v4 features an array of new additions, most notably the 360Heros Bullet360 Control Board System. It allows users to simultaneously operate the rig’s six GoPro cameras underwater by connecting them into an internal wired interface. The system has controls for switching the cameras on and off and firing the camera shutter buttons for both video and photos underwater, all magnetically triggered.
Other features include, an automated audio sync buzzer to aid in frame sync in post production, output up to 8K (8,000 x 4,000 pixels) resolution 360 video, aircraft grade polycarbonate domes to offer a 360-degree clear field of view (FoV), a 45-degree mount attachment for submarine and ROV compatibility and a rating to 1,000 meters and certified to 500 meters with neutral buoyancy in salt water (slightly negative in fresh water).
