Indie developer No Goblin is currently working on what now has to be one of the most anticipated titles for the PlayStation VR virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) in 100FT Robot Golf for PlayStation 4. This hilarious experience was revealed at the 2015 PlayStation Experience earlier in the month as something that would include support for the HMD, but not be exclusive to the device. That said, No Goblin has recently confirmed that its title will feature full support for the kit when it launches.
The team’s Dan Teasdale recently confirmed as much over on Twitter. Addressing some concerns about if the title could also be played without the kit, the developer noted: “Seen this confused a bunch, so a quick clarification: @100ftrobotgolf is both regular PS4 and PSVR at launch. Same game, two great tastes.” That said, it’s not yet clear when 100FT Robot Golf will be launching, though this confirms that it at least won’t be out until PlayStation VR itself is made available at some point in the first half of 2016.
Following on, Teasdale also confirmed that split-screen support multiplayer support would not feature in VR. “This is also confirmation that no, split screen does not work inside a VR helmet. Even if you and your friends have very tiny heads,” he said.
A big part of 100FT Robot Golf is that multiplayer support, however. Along with the previously mentioned split-screen support, the title from the creators of Roundabout is heading to PlayStation 4 with support online play. For those that want to try the title by themselves, however, rest assured; 100FT Robot Golf will also feature AI players so that you can play alone. “Got AI players working in @100ftrobotgolf today,” Teasdale more recently noted. “Turns out pathfinding is super easy when your players can fly and destroy anything.”
